UniCredit Bank’s local arm announces net profit rise of 3.3%

Italy's UniCredit Group said on Tuesday the consolidated net profit of its Bulgarian unit, UniCredit Bulbank, grew by an annual 3.3 per cent to 91 million euro in the first half of 2018, SeeNews wrote.


The Bulgarian lender's operating income added 1.4 per cent year-on-year to 237 million euro in the first six months of 2018, UniCredit Group said in an interim financial statement.


UniCredit Bulbank's net interest income decreased by an annual 5 per cent to 144 million euro, while net fee and commission income rose by 5.7 per cent on the year to 61 million euro in the review period.


The Sofia-based bank's first-half net trading income grew 33 per cent to 31 million euro. Operating costs increased 4.9 per cent on the year to 72 million euro.


UniCredit Bulbank was Bulgaria's largest bank by assets at the end of June, according to data of the country's central bank. The bank operated 156 branches across the country at the end of June.
