Over 300 Runners Attack Cherni Vrah on August 26

Over 200 runners have so far enrolled online in the eleventh edition of annual mountain running race Vitosha Run.

The start is at 9 am on August 26th in front of the Contemporary Art Museum in Sofia's South Park and the race finishes on Cherni Vrah at 2,290 m above sea level.

The event is organized by the Sofia Municipality, Sofia – European Capital of Sports Foundation and the Marathon Association.

The event includes men's and women's races, U-20 men and U-20 women, as well as races for 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65 and 70-year-olds.

The 17.5-km-long track has 5 checkpoints and goes along South Park's central alley, continues on Nikola Krushkin Str., then it crosses the Sofia ring road at the junction with Cherni Vrah Blvd, passes through the village of Dragalevtsi ot Chemshir Str., and from there the participants hit the path to Vherni Vrah, all the way past Goli Vrah and The Plateau, to the finish.

The whole track is marked with ribbons and signs and all participants must follow the bearings and milestones at all times.

Shaban Mustafa, who has also enrolled in this year's race, is the Vitosha Run record holder with a time of 1:36:46.

The women's record, set by Milka Mihaylova back in 2011, is 1:54:30.

The participation fee is BGN 25 for applications filed by August 24th and is paid at the start of the race. On race day the participation fee is BGN 30.
