Company Fined BGN 15,000 for Keeping Silent about High Concentration of Uranium in Drinkable Water

The water supply and sewerage company in the town of Velingrad has been imposed a fine in the amount of BGN 15,000, the national radio has reported.


The reason for the fine is that the company withheld information of increased concentration of Uranium in the town's wells of drinkable water for four months – the results of the tests became available on December 29th, but the water utility alerted the Regional Health Inspectorate in Pazardzhik a late as on April 19th.
