Chinese Businessmen Eye Opportunities in Bulgaria.

(August 3rd, 2017 Sofia) - Opportunities for participation of high-tech Chinese companies in the first science and technology park in Bulgaria, Sofia Tech Park, were discussed by Bulgaria's Minister of Economy Emil Karanikolov and HE Mr. Zhang Haizhou, China's Ambassador to Bulgaria, at a round table held in Sofia, Today.

"We are looking for international partners to participate in the project; it provides good conditions for the Chinese companies and institutes that consider expanding their R & D centers in Europe, "said Minister Karanikolov.

He added that possible areas for cooperation include the building of own or joint research and innovation laboratories, cooperation with leading Bulgarian scientific institutions and setting up showrooms of big Chinese high-tech companies.
On his part, Hm. Zhang Haizhou said that Sofia Tech Park offers some excellent opportunities for Bulgarian-Chinese cooperation.

"We are currently promoting some technology parks in China to seek the opportunity to send incubators to Bulgaria. The market demand as well as funds that will help to transform the scientific results into industry, will follow the incubators "said HE Zhang Haizhou.
The options for enhancing economic and trade cooperation were also discussed at the meeting.

A total of 28 procedures have been launched to regulate the import of Bulgarian agricultural and food products to China, of which three have been finalized, and the milk and dairy procedure is expected to be completed shortly.

"We thank the Embassy of China and we are counting on the Chinese authorities to help speed up the procedures for importing Bulgarian agricultural and food products," said Minister Karanikolov.
"China is actively exploring ways to strengthen cooperation with Bulgaria," Zhang Haizhou said.

"Exports to China need to increase and we need to create a trade balance between the two countries. In our view, agriculture has a wide scope, including trade, produce, the opening of new markets and new food processing technologies," Minister Karanikolov said.

The Chinese authorities have great respect for Bulgarian agricultural products, "said HE Zhang Haizhou, adding that if the two countries want to increase commodity exchange, they should work towards the promotion of Bulgarian products in China and the expansion of trading channels.
