Tax inspectors of the National Revenue Agency have sealed off 180 retail outlets across the country since the beginning of 2017.
Tax evasion is the most common infringement committed by the retailers, followed by turnover conceal, discrepancies between the amount in the cash drawer and the registered sales, non-issuance of receipts, etc.
Usually, the infringers have their outlets closed for between one and two weeks, or until the fines imposed by the NRA agents are paid.
NRA inspectors have found out that many Bulgarian retailers do not even have a cash register.
They also say sealing off retail outlets is a drastic, but at the same time very effective measure against small business tax infringements.
If you spot a tax infringement taking place at a retail outlet, be it a bar, restaurant, pub, shop, or a fast food joint, please call NRA's hot line 0700 18 700 or send an email at email@example.com.
