On the last business day of 2016, Bulgaria's State Energy and Water Regulatory Commission decided that the wholesale price of natural gas is to go up by 4.65% as of January 1st, 2017.
Thus, one thousand cubic meters of natural gas now cost BGN 280.21, before excise duties, VAT and transit fee.
The freshly approved by the state regulator transit fee (payable to gas operators for supplying natural gas to households and businesses via the national gas distribution system) is set at BGN 19. 73 per one thousand cubic meters.
The Commission's experts assure that the retail price of central heating and hot water in the cities will not be going up, for the time being at least.
