The lifeless body of a 37-year-old Bulgarian national has been found floating on a canal on Brussels, local media report.
The initial reports that surfaced yesterday, when the body was recovered, suggested he was a Romanian.
Earlier on Wednesday night the man was temporarily detained by local traffic police, as he had been caught jaywalking in Belgium's longest tunnel, Leopold.
Local prosecutor's office has ordered an autopsy to establish the cause of death.
Police are watching records of CCTV cameras in the area, trying to find out how his body ended up in the canal.
