Bulgaria Receives EUR 1 B from EU

(September 12, 2017 Sofia) Bulgaria has already absorbed over one billion euro in EU funds for the 2014-2020 programming period.

The capital injection is expected to boost the country's economic growth by 1.7%, an analysis of the Finance Ministry Reads.

During the 2014-2020 programming period, Bulgaria's second since its EU accession at the beginning of 2007, the country has access to a total of EUR 9.9 B, meant to co-finance 10 different programs.

This is an increase by 5.2% from the previous programming period, 2007-2013.

As of June 30th 2017, the implementation of the majority of the programs are in an initial phase of implementation, while the absorbed financial resource amounts to EUR 1.239, the EU finds share being just over EUR 1 B.

By June 30th 2017, Bulgaria has absorbed 10.5% of its EU subsidy. As a result, the Finance Ministry experts expect to register 1.7% economic growth at the end of 2017.
