Bank lending growth sped up at the end of June

Bulgarian banks' outstanding loans' share of the non-government sector rose by 5.9 per cent on the year to 53.3 billion leva at the end of June, from 4 per cent annual growth at the end of the previous quarter, Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) data showed on Wednesday.


The number of loans provided by Bulgarian banks to the non-government sector stood at 3.04 million at end-June, up by an annual 10%, BNB said in a statement. Outstanding loans to non-financial corporations totalled 32.25 billion leva at the end of June, while loans to households and non-profit institutions, serving households amounted to 21.03 billion leva.


Deposits of the non-government sector rose by an annual 9.6 per cent to 71.7 billion leva at the end of June, BNB data also showed.


On a quarterly basis, the value of deposits of the non-government sector was 2.8% higher at the end of June, BNB said in a monetary statistics report.


Corporate deposits by the non-financial sector amounted to 22.7 billion levs at the end of June, up by an annual 15.6%.


Household deposits were 7% higher on the year at 49 billion levs at the end of June.
